1. About the Service

The Impactful Career Planner is a free, independent, web-based tool that guides you through a career planning process. It is operated by Deborah Engelmajer, based in New South Wales, Australia.

The Service is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by 80,000 Hours. The career planning framework the Service guides you through is inspired by publicly available resources published by 80,000 Hours, which remain their copyright.

2. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure and for any activity under your account. The Service is intended for users aged 16 or older.

3. Your content

You own everything you write into your career plan. We claim no ownership of your plan content. You grant us a limited license to store, transmit, and display your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
• Attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorised access to the Service or its underlying infrastructure.
• Use automated tools to scrape, extract, or copy content from the Service.
• Use the Service to harm, harass, or impersonate others.

5. Not professional advice

The Service is a self-guided thinking tool. It does not provide professional career, financial, legal, medical, or psychological advice. Decisions you make based on your plan are your own responsibility. You should consult qualified professionals where appropriate.

6. Service availability

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, and we may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. Where reasonable, we will give notice before making significant changes.

7. Intellectual property

The Service's code, design, and original copy are owned by Deborah Engelmajer. The underlying career planning framework draws on materials published by 80,000 Hours, which remain their copyright; we make no claim of ownership over that framework. We may modify or remove parts of the Service in response to requests from 80,000 Hours.

“80,000 Hours” is a trademark of its owner. References to 80,000 Hours on the Service are descriptive and do not imply endorsement or affiliation.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us in the past 12 months — which, for a free Service, is AUD $0.

Nothing in these terms excludes any consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law or equivalent statutory rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

9. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time by emailing deborah.engelmajer@gmail.com. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

10. Privacy

Use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify registered users by email and update the “last updated” date at the top of this page.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Any dispute arising from the Service or these terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales.
